Work At Home Scams: Use The Delete Key

We did an interview a few weeks ago with MSNBC as part of a story on work-at-home scams that's generated a lot of interest. And our comment in that interview was prompted by all the e-mails and phone calls we've been getting from you recently about work-at-home scams. I went on CNN's Your Money show on Sunday to talk about the scams in general, not just online. But the advice for anyone online at home or work is simple: No real employer is going to send you an anonymous e-mail trying to "hire" you to work from home doing anything legal. Delete these e-mails when you get them. Don't be tempted to respond in any way -- at the least, you might fall victim to some kind of theft of personal information. Read this powerpoint, generated for the CNN interview, for the details on work-at-home scams. While we're at it, here's a blog entry from a while back outing the "Crazy Fox" TV commercials as a front for Herbalife, and the followup.
